Women's Art Register

The Women’s Art Register is Australia’s living archive of women’s art practice.

Established in 1975, we are a not-for-profit, artist-run community and resource, with an open and inclusive policy of collecting items from artists who identify as women (cis and trans inclusive) or gender diverse. The Women's Art Register provides an inclusive, independent platform for research, education, advocacy and support, enhancing the status of women artists and addressing issues of equity, professional practice and cultural heritage.

Our archive of images, artist files, posters, books, catalogues and ephemera documents the work of over 5000 artists from the 19th century to today.

We publish a twice-yearly journal, the Bulletin, guest edited by our community and featuring a range of contemporary and archival texts and works. Recent publishing projects include the artists' workbook Leaving Your Legacy and the intergenerational conversation series It Comes in Waves.
