Alison Goodman’s books have been published around the world, but rarely have they received the same cover treatment.

Just how much say does an author have in what goes on the cover? What about making your own?

Alison, the author of eight novels marketed to young adults and adults across a range of genres, will be sharing her experiences with publishers big and small as she delves into the role of cover art in the process of book selling, from a writer’s point of view.

Alison will also be sharing her experiences in promoting her latest series, an adventure and mystery set in the Regency era. The first of the Ill-Mannered Ladies series, The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies, was recently long-listed in the 2023 ARA Historical Novel Award. Alison has a strong interest in hands-on research, whether it be swordplay, Regency-era dance or a fine high tea.

Presented by Words Out Loud and Everybody Knows Books
