Damp Proof Membrane

Naarm/Melbourne, Australia

We are the Drawing and Printmaking studios (DPM) at the Victorian College of the Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, University of Melbourne.
Our imprint includes experimental approaches to publishing by our students.
DPM’s curriculum is underpinned by an understanding of the powerful role of art practices in shaping cultural values and understanding art practices as forms of knowledge and action that can contribute to addressing the multiple issues that face societies, and the way contemporary art is produced, discussed, and circulates.
We are delivering a project specifically about publishing titled Bound Volumes: Publishing — Community — Economy — Circulation through which students will be producing publications.
Our booth would be a lively presentation of experimental publications. We aim for our students to view themselves as part of a professional community of makers. This project at the Melbourne Art Book Fair would be an important moment of students seeing themselves as connected to makers in Naarm and beyond.
