Bad News Books

Naarm/Melbourne and Te-Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington

Bad News Books is a photobook publishing collective founded in 2015 and works across Aotearoa and Australia. BNB is run by a small team of artists; Robyn Daly, Michael Mahne Lamb and Harry Culy. Our publishing predominantly focuses on collaborating with photographers and artists from Aotearoa and Australia to create high-quality, innovative and accessible photobooks. To date, we have created over 25 different publications and have worked with many emerging and established photographers from our part of the world.

Bad News Books was founded with the intention to create a platform for the work of New Zealand and Australian photographers — thereby fostering a sense of community for the growing audience of photobooks in the Asia-Pacific region. Our publishing practice is a way to connect and share diverse perspectives. We are in love with the form of the photobook as a speculative space; a way to sweep the reader into a story, emotion or concept with the simple ingredients of paper, ink and glue. The photobook is an accessible and important vehicle to present and distribute photographic artwork.
