Discover the bold, experimental, and independent voices shaping print culture today. At this year’s Stallholder Fair, magazine imprints take centre stage – bringing together a curated selection of publishers who are redefining the magazine format across art, design, fashion, identity, and politics.
From risograph zines and artist-led journals to high-concept design magazines, these imprints push the boundaries of form and content. Explore limited-run issues, collectable editions, and ongoing series that celebrate the printed page as a space for radical thought and creative expression.
Participants
un Magazine
With a focus on artists, writers and independent practice, un Projects publishes essays, artists’ work and reviews, in print and online. Their flagship publication is un Magazine which was founded in 2004 by Melbourne artist Lily Hibberd.
Good Sport
Since their beginning in 2014, Good Sport has redefined the sports magazine. By looking deeper and listening more closely, Good Sport presents an evolving and nuanced narrative of sporting culture.
Debris Magazine
Debris refers to remains: leftovers, scattered pieces, detritus, refuse. As such, the magazine adopts ‘debris’ as a name to reflect the stories and voices that are not traditionally heard in so-called ‘Australia’ with a mission to nurture and support the development of excellent writing.
Pilot
Pilot is a digest dedicated to all things creative, experimental, and authentic. With each issue, they dive into their experimental nature by playing with unique formats and physical construction. From a duo-binded trifold issue, to an issue that doubled as a gameboard, Pilot is all about pushing themselves and their readers.
HEAT
HEAT is a distinguished Australian literary journal committed to producing innovative and imaginative poetry, fiction, essays and hybrid forms published by Giramondo.
Soft Stir
Soft Stir is an independent publication examining art, music, culture and philosophy through the eyes of diverse emerging Australian creatives. Founded in 2019, their goal is to strengthen cultural and creative networks in the Australian community, while providing opportunities for cross-disciplinary creative expression and topical critique.
Demure Mag
Demure is a Naarm-based publication that encourages the discovery and appreciation of emerging femme, queer and gender-non-conforming (GNC) creatives.
HOISZN
HOISZN is a quarterly art and design zine based in Naarm/Melbourne, dedicated to celebrating the remarkable talents of Asian Australian creatives and their rich, diverse cultures. Independently created, designed, and produced, HOISZN seeks to elevate voices and perspectives that enrich the broader art and cultural landscape.
Tart
Tart Magazine is a volunteer, women-led, two-person publishing team who, within three years of publishing, have produced three issues featuring predominantly Australian artists, photographers, poets, writers and chefs in its pages.
Perspektif
Perspektif is an Indonesian student-led biannual print and online magazine, supported by the Melbourne University Indonesian Students’ Association.
Inflection Journal
Inflection is the annual student-run journal from the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), University of Melbourne. Internationally distributed, Inflection explores themes relevant to contemporary architectural discourse through the contributions of students, scholars and practitioners.
