Art Ink and Djon Mundine present a reading from Windows and Mirrors, a 2025 publication of essays and reflections spanning art, history, memory and cultural politics.
Shortlisted for the 2026 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards in the Indigenous Writing category, the book traces key figures, exhibitions and movements in the development of contemporary Aboriginal art.
The event invites visitors to hear Mundine read from the publication and speak to the experiences and ideas that inform its writing.
Djon Mundine is a proud Bandjalung man, curator, writer, artist and activist. He is a significant figure in the criticism and exhibition of contemporary Aboriginal art.

Djon Mundine OAM
Djon Mundine OAM is a proud Bandjalung man from the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. A curator, writer, artist and activist, he is widely recognised as a foundational figure in the criticism and exhibition of contemporary Aboriginal art. He has held senior curatorial roles across major institutions and was the concept artist and producer of The Aboriginal Memorial. In 1993 he received the Medal of the Order of Australia, and in 2020 he received the Australia Council’s Red Ochre Award for Lifetime Achievement.
