collective effort press is a self-funded and independent publisher and artists and writer’s collective that has been at the forefront of experimental publishing in Australia for 50 years.
Some highlights have included the inauguration of the POETS UNION, “Performance Poetry”, Visual & Concrete Poetry, Sound Poetry, Number Poetry, as well as being an early exponent of ZINE culture and art gallery presentations. They have published & co-published a number of important anthologies notably MISSING FORMS 1980 (an anthology of visual poetry), OFF THE RECORD 1985 (an anthology of performance poetry) with Penguin Books, and “925” (an anthology of worker’s poetry) and also, Of Life & Death, a monograph on the late Dadaist artist and poet Jas H. Duke. Magazines include FITZROT, “925” (worker’s poetry), Migrant 7 (a magazine of Post-Colonial writing), and UNUSUAL WORK, a zine devoted to the exploration of language art, experimental poetry, prose, pictures, paintings, photographs, sketches, sculpture, art, ideas, politics, and anything else starting with abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz (edited by TT.O (Pi O) author of Heide, 2019.
As the name suggests, collective effort press is a coalition of disparate and diverse cross media artists and writing practitioners.
