SALT AND PEPPER
Tokyo, Japan
SALT AND PEPPER is a project that creates opportunities for people of all ages, genders, and nationalities to experience the intuitive excitement and emotional impact of encountering art and artists.
To support this, they present exhibitions, produce and distribute self-published art books, collaborate with artists on original items, and host workshops, creating spaces for artists and audiences to meet face-to-face.
Their approach is to realise the images in our minds as faithfully as possible. Through ongoing dialogue with artists, collaborators, audiences, and others involved in the project, they maintain an open and flexible process free from rigid rules while holding a broad, considered perspective. This way of working is what makes their projects distinctive.
For MABF 2026, they will launch 13 new titles by Japanese artists, while also bringing a selection of their existing self-published zines and books.
