Literary journal no purchase presents a reading event centred around the theme ‘experiments’. Writers will be selected by their response to the theme with an emphasis on originality and experimentation.
There will be two sets of readings, with time in between to drink, talk, snack, carouse, rebut, reply, schmooze and sit. no purchase issues and related merchandise will also be available for sale.

no purchase is a new print-only literary journal based on the foundational principle of ‘archirregularism’, which emphasises writing that is strange or irregular in some way. We aim to provide a voice to new and emerging writers by housing writing that falls between the cracks of Melbourne’s literary landscape. The third issue of no purchase, which explores the concept of debt, launched in April 2026.
