Awful Publishing is an independent imprint established by Awful Studios, an artist-run collective led by Felix Meyers (@badsitrep) and Jason Kolenda (@blinkerfluid_). Awful Studios works across video, design, art, and photography, often imbuing elements of humour into their distinctly independent and experimental output.

Awful Publishing emerged from a desire to circulate work being produced within and around their studio. As such, the imprint creates and stocks artist-led books, zines, and other printed matter in close collaboration with their creative community. By focusing on practices that are temporary, informal, or not typically presented within institutional frameworks, Awful Publishing provides an outlet for work that might otherwise remain undocumented or unsupported.
