Shepparton Art Museum

Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) is one of Australia's leading regional art museums, located on river country close to the Goulburn River—known as Kaiela to the Yorta Yorta people. SAM cares for nationally significant collections of ceramics and Indigenous art. We support artists to create new work and present exhibitions and programs that are responsive to our community, ambitious in scope, and rooted in place.

As museums and artists increasingly embrace online platforms, the role of printed matter in the arts is evolving. Building on SAM’s legacy of producing high-quality exhibition publications, in 2025 we launched MASS, our new art journal. We believe that print remains a powerful medium for storytelling, archiving and exchange. Each issue of MASS shares insights into the creative and logistical work that brings art to life from across SAM’s team, features a focus on the SAM collection, and commissions poetry and essays by artists and writers. The journal is a tactile and visual document of contemporary artistic practice and ideas, from SAM’s distinctive regional Victorian context.
